Active Listening

Active Listening is one of the most important communication skills. Engaging another person is easier if you listen to what they need from you and communicate accordingly.

It is only through active listening that we can achieve a win-win outcome.

How to do Active Listening:

  • Pay close attention to what the other person is saying, ask questions/rephrase to confirm that you understand the information relayed to you.
  • Focus on the information and its message. Do not listen for the sake of replying. Instead, listen to understand.
  • Avoid distractions while you are in a discussion/conversation with others - for example, stay away from cell phones and laptops.
